“Great Railway Journeys of the World” was a travel documentary series produced by BBC few decades ago with hour long episodes documenting railway journeys across the world. The episode related to India, titled “Deccan”, was produced in 1980 and documented the journey of a BBC reporter travelling from Bombay to Cochin.
It is not just about the railways but also the experience during journey and the reporter’s interaction with other passengers, railway employees, bystanders etc which adds charm to the documentary. This documentary being more than 30 years old gives some insights into the India of that era to today’s youngsters and might evoke nostalgia among seniors.
